TechShow 2018 is Almost Here

TechShow 2018 is this week and I am really excited. Not only do I get to speak at a couple of sessions, but there are tons of other sessions that will be dispensing great legal technology knowledge.Techshow 2018 Plus, the Expo Hall appears to be full of tons of great vendors who are happy to talk to you about what is going on in the field of legal technology.

I have attended TechShow for many years and cannot recommend it highly enough. If you are not already going, it’s not too late. You can still register now.

There are a number of different tracks this year, including a new academic track. Plus, if you have never attended before, now is the time. On Thursday morning there is a New Attendee Orientation. This short session is designed to help you get the most out of the conference.

Regardless of your skill level, I can promise you that you will find knowledge at this conference that you can take back to your practice and implement immediately to improve your practice of law.

Because of their prevalence, it is critical that lawyers understand the uses, risks and benefits of PDF files. This session covers how to work with PDF files, including metadata removal, document security, redaction, Bates numbering, collaboration features, as well as the pros and cons of the different PDF applications.

Handling and Digitizing Original Documents

On May 19, 2016, I will be presenting at a seminar hosted by NBI. The seminar is titled Handling and Digitizing Original Documents. I am speaking on (i) What to Do with the Backstock of Paper; (ii) Tackling Paper as it Enters the Office; and (iii) Investing in Digitization Equipment and Processes. Microsoft has a hit or miss record when it comes to its namesake operating system. Windows 7 was a huge success while Windows 8 wasn’t. Microsoft is rolling out Windows 10 as the replacement for Windows 8.1 in 2015. What does this mean for you? Should you upgrade?

Anyone who knows me, know that I am a huge proponent of a paperless office and the use of cloud storage. As such, I am thrilled to be participating in a presentation called: What You Need to Know: Cloud Storage, Document Assembly, and Ethics. This seminar is being presented by the Standing Committee on Legal Technology from Illinois State Bar Association.

The program is on September 24, 2015, from 1 to 5:15 CT, and you can attend live at the Chicago Regional Office, or attend via a live webcast. You need not be an ISBA member to attend (although the registration fee is higher for non-members). My sessions is described as:
